Benefits of Aromatherapy Massage

Caucasian Female laying on chest and receiving a back message from a specialistWhen combined with massage therapy designed to benefit the circulatory, lymphatic, nervous, and musculoskeletal systems, aromatherapy offers an additional level of relaxation and healing. The combination provides positive effects on your mind and body that linger long after the massage is complete.

When used according to professional recommendation, the essential oils used during an aromatherapy massage offer a host of benefits:

  • Improved healing of the mind and body through manipulation of your soft tissues.
  • Heightened relaxation achieved through inhalation of oil scents that calm emotions.
  • Mood enhancement, particularly with citrus scents.
  • Positive emotional health through scent-triggered positive memories and feelings.
  • Reduced inflammation through increased circulation brought about by invigorating and cooling essential oils such as peppermint.

There’s an Essential Oil for That

Some of the most popular aromatherapy massage essential oils are bergamot, cedarwood, chamomile, eucalyptus, geranium, ginger, grapefruit, lemon, orange, patchouli, peppermint, sweet marjoram, and tea tree oil. Three favorites of our guests include:

  • Lavender. Along with peppermint and eucalyptus, lavender essential oil helps relieve muscle tension and headaches. It soothes the skin and is said to slow the progression of wrinkles. Prized for its relaxing qualities, it’s also often used in bed linen sprays and pulse point applications.
  • Sage. The three types of sage oil, Spanish, common, and clary, offer unique relaxation benefits for anxiety and other mood disorders. Great for your skin, the sage oil scent also has a stimulating effect and is used to cleanse negativity from the air.
  • Mandarin. Sweet, clean, and vibrant all at once, this beautiful scent has an overall calming effect and is often used to address digestive problems. The oil can also be used on the skin and is used to treat acne.

The pampering solution you need could be right at the end of your nose! Talk to us about adding an aromatherapy massage treatment to your stay at the Inn. It’s the perfect way to make your Healdsburg stay a more memorable and relaxing one.

Healdsburg Events Valentine

” What I find most disturbing about Valentine’s Day is, look, I get that you have to have a holiday of love, but in the height of flu season, it makes no sense. “– Lewis Black

This quote by Lewis Black brings light to the Valentine’s Holiday, because at the end of the day, it’s a day that should be filled with laughter, fun and of course, Love! The definition of love means so much right? You can love to head out and explore, you can love to stay home and watch a movie, you can show love to a stranger with a random act of kindness or eat a lovely meal at a place you love. All these choices bring us back to the idea that, Valentine’s Day is not just for those couples, it’s for all of us! For us at the Camellia Inn though, it’s a great time because there are so many Healdsburg events that anyone can be a part of. Below are some highlights for this upcoming weekend. We hope you’ll find your way to one of these Healdsburg events.

Friday Evening Wine & Song – A Complimentary Music Series

Male and Female on bicycles with red heart painted in front The first Healdsburg event to discuss is over at Hudson Street Wineries on 428 Hudson Street. They will feature “John Vicino” a singer songwriter who returns to the Barrel Room with his unique style of acoustic & beyond. He started his career at age 16 in & around the streets of San Francisco. There will be a food vendor on site and Valentine’s Day wine specials! This is going to be quite the fun little intimate Healdsburg event anyone can enjoy. Head over to their website to find out more. https://hudsonstreetwineries.com/upcoming-events/

Pliny The Younger at Russian River Brewing Company

Alright, so this isn’t a Healdsburg event, but this is an event, nonetheless. Pliny the younger is a once a year Double IPA beer release from Russian River Brewing company. One could call this a Healdsburg event if they choose to, because it brings people from all over the world into Sonoma County to taste this one of a kind beer. People will wait in line for 6-9 hours, depending on the time of day you choose to go. Russian River Brewing company has two locations. The original location is in downtown Santa Rosa and their newest location is in Windsor which is only 7 miles from our Camellia Inn. The cool thing about this beer release is, if you get in at a good time, you can only stay for 3 hours. So, eat, drink, buy some merchandise and then head back out. Head up to see us and keep the party going, there is probably a Healdsburg event going on that you’ll enjoy.

Barley and Bine Beer Café

This is a short little plug for a great small business that is thriving especially during the time of the Russian River Pliny the Younger release, because they are a 5 minute walk from them. This is a place that we suggest you check out anytime, not just for the purpose of this Valentine’s Day weekend, but any weekend you want to experience a non-Healdsburg event. Barley and Bine will have an event called on Valentine’s Night called, “Pucker Up! A Night of Sours & Flowers.” This is a Sour beer tap takeover and they will be selling some beautiful bouquets of flowers and serving some delicious food specials. We suggest you check them out on Friday night, if you can.

Valentine’s Day Dinner at Seghesio Family Vineyards

Alright the final Healdsburg event to discuss is all about dinner and it’s happening at Seghesio Family Vineyards. There, you’ll indulge on the day meant to celebrate LOVE. This Healdsburg event will begin the evening with a wine and charcuterie reception in their tasting room before descending into the Cellar to enjoy a decadent, multi-course dinner created by Executive Chef Peter Janiak. Hosted on February 14th AND February 15th, limited to 40 guests per night. We highly suggest you head over to their website to get a ticket. This Healdsburg event will book up fast! https://www.seghesio.com/Events-Food/Winery-Events#

Heart Day, The Camellia Inn and all the Healdsburg events…

I think we all can agree that the Camellia Inn is in the heart of all the Healdsburg events happening this Valentine’s day weekend. Beer, wine, dinner, chocolate oh my…hikes, dancing, running, shopping oh my…sleeping, swimming, waking, riding oh my! There are so many things to do here in Healdsburg, I could go on forever, but that would be like reading a novel. We’ll just end with this, on Thursdays over at Barley and Bine Beer Café, they have a picture with the two bartenders, standing back to back and it’s titled, “Thursday Night, You Won’t?” We think it’s clever, so we are going to borrow it just for today, “Valentine’s Day in Healdsburg, you Won’t?”

How to Find the Best Spa in Healdsburg

When you search for a spa Healdsburg or otherwise, there are several things you need to look for. You need to find one that uses local workers, one that focuses on the customer experience, and one that is within easy reach of the community as a whole without having a long commute. In some cases, you can find several great qualities such as these within the same spa Healdsburg.

Only Locals

Smiling woman in spa holding flower Local people are the best people for a relaxing experience. While it may sound almost too easy to settle in and relax when you are on a vacation, this becomes more difficult when there is an inherent stress level within the people at your spa Healdsburg. The more relaxed they are in what they are doing, the better off you are going to be. This relaxation starts with being highly familiar with the area, and with having a reasonable commute into work. While their stress levels may be masked by professionalism, the easiest way to have a great and relaxing experience is to be tended to by people who are themselves in a relaxed state of mind.

The Amazing Experience

There are plenty of occasions in life where a great experience seems to simply happen without any sort of planning. Unfortunately, this type of occasion is a serious rarity. For most kinds of businesses, it can be a significant feat just to provide their product or service in a timely and effective manner. To focus on the actual experience that someone has when they walk in the door is something that all too many business owners seem to consider too much to think about. But when you get into a spa in Healdsburg that focuses on providing you with a great experience that soothes all of your senses, that long day of hiking, biking and checking out the breweries will not seem so strenuous.

Simple to Get To

Getting to your favorite spa should not be a stressful activity in and of itself. The idea is to find a place that you can easily get to with a short drive, and ideally get to on foot. In a city of 11,000 people, nothing should be a lengthy commute away, particularly if it is designed to provide a relaxing experience to the city’s visitors. When you find a spa that is relaxing just getting there, this is the right spa.

B&B Healdsburg CA: The Best Parts of Wine Country

As anyone staying in a b&b healdsburg ca could tell you, wine country is about a lot more than just wine. There are all kinds of great activities you can get into. Even though the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco is only 90 minutes away driving, there is a lot to marvel at even in this fairly small town.

Places to Visit When Yous Stay at Our B&B Healdsburg CA

A Tasty Start to Your Day

White cup filled with tea surrounded by fresh fruit and oats, boiled egg, cheery tomatoes, fresh oranges and orange Juice, a bagel and croissant Early in the day, one of the best things you can do after waking up in your b&b healdsburg ca is to pop down to the Costeaux French Bakery for some bistro cuisine. Once you’ve had your fill, you have some options to begin digesting your meal, such as strolling through what Travel+Leisure Magazine voted among the top town squares in the entire country.

Fun in Town

Staying in your b&b healdsburg ca isn’t the whole reason you came here, so heading out is worth the time. If you want to get out of the mid day sun for awhile, you can check out plenty of boutiques in the Mill Street Antiques Plaza, across 15,000 square feet of retail space. You can wait until the sun gets a bit lower in the sky while looking through knickknacks at the Antique Harvest, and still get your steps in.

If you are feeling like seeing something produced a bit more recently, there are two dozen art galleries within a reasonable walk of the plaza. Whether you want to see something by local artists, or something done in a traditional local style, you have a number of options. As evening comes on, you can remember that this entire area is called wine country for a reason. Wine Country Walking Tours let you dine and sip. If you are less hungry, the Let’s Go Wine Walk lets you sample different local wines for three whole hours.

Heading Out for Awhile

If you are less interested in city life, you can find a lot to enjoy outside of town. Go for a long nature stroll, a run if you feel up to it, or hop on a mountain bike through Healdsburg Ridge Open Space Preserve. Spoke Folk Cyclery and Wine Country Bikes are great places to get the perfect two wheeled steed. Just make sure to stay hydrated and take enough breaks to avoid getting overheated, as the temperatures rarely get lower than 40 degrees even in the winter. Contact us for more information.

Visit the Camellia Inn this Fall!

Autumn is one of the best times of year to come to the Camellia Inn, where the weather and the blooms are just a few of the great reasons to stay. The history never stops, and neither do all the fun things to do in Healdsburg California.

Experience Camellia Inn

Smiling woman in coat playing with leaves during fallSpa treatment is especially fun during the fall, since it lets you relax a bit before all of the stresses that the end of the year brings on. At the Camellia Inn, you can have one of our licensed massage therapists come right to your room and deliver relaxation that will help all your cares melt away.

If you want to take a stroll, you will have plenty to see. Outside the Camellia Inn’s 1869 Victorian building, there are more than 50 different kinds of camellia flowers to see. The area has been awash in diverse plant life since the Victorian era, when camellias were the most popular type of flower around. Professionals in the horticultural field Dr. Seawell and Luther Burbank worked in both researching and planting the Healdsburg gardens that are still well known, leaving a legacy you can still enjoy today.

Camellias have always stood for loveliness and excellence in the Language of Flowers. Since some camellias only bloom during the autumn, you will get to experience something different from what the snow birds and summer stayers get to see. If you have never stayed during the fall, the views alone are worth it, even though you might not want to take a dip in the pool if the temperature gets under 60.

Healdsburg is a great place to visit, even as the fall begins to succumb to the winter chill. Even in November, the temperature rarely gets below the mid 40s, and there are less than 7 days with rain. Clear skies and only a mild chill make visiting the Camellia Inn a wonderful respite for the near end of the year.

Healdsburg itself is an amazing place to visit, with a laid back culture that produces some of the finest wines in the country. Often voted one of the top 10 best small towns in the US, strolling and shopping in Healdsburg is a great way to spend time. The fact that the Camellia Inn provides you with a host of wine vouchers means you can sample a tremendous number of delicious libations that are all made locally. Contact us for more information.

Healdsburg Breakfast – Enjoy with the Kids

“I love breakfast! Not only is it the most important meal of the day, but I loved waking up to – the smell of bacon in the morning was my favorite thing as a kid!” — Rachel Hollis

The smell of Sizzling bacon, fresh brewed coffee, Hot maple Syrup and so many more breakfast smells gets us all excited to dig in and fill our bellies. Fresh fruit, Orange Juice, Pancakes oh my! Scrambled Eggs, Sausage, Avocado Toast Oh My. Sorry, we went full breakfast Wizard of Oz mode right there. But breakfast is such an important meal and it can be had at any time of the day in our opinion. Our Healdsburg Breakfast at the Camellia Inn is obviously a great option for you when you stay with us. But the Healdsburg Breakfast scene is sensational, so we’d like to give you an idea of what that scene looks like.

Costeaux French Bakery & Café

Healdsburg Breakfast

We can’t start this breakfast list off without first talking about Costeaux French Bakery & Café. They are located on Healdsburg Ave, which is only a few minutes away from the Camellia Inn. Costeaux’s is extremely popular here in Healdsburg. Their reach goes even deeper with their exceptional breads and pastries being delivered to many other restaurants and businesses all throughout Sonoma County. This Healdsburg Breakfast staple has menu items from Omelette’s, to Avocado toast, to Monte Cristo Sandwiches, to so many other delicious options. We highly recommend this Healdsburg breakfast staple when you come to our beautiful town. Head over to their website so you can look their entire menu over. http://www.costeaux.com/

Skillets Cafe

Okay, so this restaurant isn’t a Healdsburg Breakfast choice, but it’s only a ten-minute drive away. Skillets is located in Windsor, which is just South of Healdsburg. We’ve eaten there a handful of times and many of our guests have as well. From the Garden Skillet, to the Country Skillet, to The Mexican Skillet, to breakfast sandwiches and Omelettes, Skillet’s Café has you covered. It’s not a Healdsburg Breakfast location but it is a solid option for you and your family to enjoy. Don’t hesitate to head to Windsor to enjoy Skillets Café. They don’t have a website, but they open at 6am every morning and close by 3pm. Head over there, you won’t be disappointed.

Ana’s Café and Espresso

Another great Healdsburg Breakfast place to go to is Ana’s Café and Espresso. Honestly, their breakfast menu isn’t extravagant, but it’s delicious. Their breakfast burritos are exceptional as are their breakfast sandwiches. The coffee and espresso drinks shouldn’t be ignored. Ana’s Café and Espresso will treat you right and get you back on the road quicker than most other restaurants. This Healdsburg Breakfast business doesn’t have a website, but they open at 5 am everyday but on Sunday they are closed. Check this Healdsburg Breakfast spot out, it’s a little gem!

The Brass Rabbit

The next Healdsburg Breakfast spot we want to tell you about is The Brass Rabbit. This Healdsburg spot is open everyday from 5pm to 9pm. But on Saturday and Sunday they open their kitchen up at 9 am for an exceptional Brunch menu. This menu is filled with items like Avocado Toast, Brioche French Toast, Spring Vegetable Frittata, Benedict, a simple Two egg breakfast and a plethora of other choices for you. Everything on the Brass Rabbit’s Healdsburg Breakfast menu is reasonably priced and presented beautifully. If you have a free weekend coming up, we suggest you come stay with us at the Camellia Inn and walk over to The Brass Rabbit for an inviting and filling Healdsburg Breakfast experience. If you’d like to know more about the Brass Rabbit, click the following link. https://thebrassrabbithealdsburg.com/

The Parish Café

The final Healdsburg Breakfast restaurant we want to bring to your attention is the New Orleans inspired Parish Café. This is one of Healdsburg’s best breakfast joints because everything you can imagine about New Orleans cuisine is brought to life at The Parish Café. They serve hand-made beignets that are rolled out fresh when ordered and quickly deep-fried and smothered in powdered sugar. The chef has a handful of Louisiana styled breakfast meals that include Eggs Nouvelle Orleans. This includes a generous amount of poached eggs, mounds of sweet blue crab meat, silky house-made hollandaise and a scattering of shallots on crisp buttered French bread. This is just a small sample size of what to expect at the Parish Café. Head over to the following website to look their menu over. http://theparishcafe.com/home/healdsburg/

You, us and the Healdsburg Breakfast Scene

We don’t always use the new forms of expression well, but I think we all can agree that the Healdsburg Breakfast scene is Fire!!! This is a nice list of breakfast restaurants for you to investigate when you visit Healdsburg, or you stay with us at the Camellia Inn. If you love breakfast, we promise these are some perfect places to satisfy that love. Contact us at any time for any information about these spots. We are happy to point you in the right direction. Cheers!

“You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4th, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. Experience It All Right Here At The Camellia Inn

“All vacations can come down to a few little moments – what do your remember when you’re alone, totally relaxed and taken out of yourself to appreciate this other world.” – Bill Kurtis

Right now, I’m sitting at the bar inside of Barley and Bine Beer café in Windsor, which is a short drive to the Camellia Inn. I just finished a great conversation with a customer named Aaron that’s from North Carolina. He told me he’s in town from North Carolina and visiting this area for the first time. I love when I meet people from out of the area and get to hear their stories. When Aaron asked me about where I’m from and what I did, he was intrigued when I brought up Healdsburg and the Camellia Inn. Aaron is here for the next few weeks and will be coming to the Camellia Inn for a tour of our bed and breakfast and a conversation about the many great things we offer. Here’s a list of the things I’ll be talking to Aaron about.

The Location

The Camellia Inn

When Aaron and I start the tour of the Camellia Inn and we begin talking I’ll start with our location. The Camellia Inn Bed and Breakfast is located just minutes from anything and everything. You can walk out of our front doors and begin your journey to delight in the many brilliant Healdsburg treats. If you like food, wine, spirits, art, music and so much more, then our Healdsburg Camellia Inn has you covered.

Room Accommodations

The next thing I’ll talk to Aaron about is the rooms at our Camellia Inn Bed and Breakfast. I think we can all agree that when you are planning those vacations and then choosing a room to stay in, it’s exciting. The anticipation of staying in a room that’s not your own is fun. We at the Camellia Inn totally get this joy little joy. The rooms at the Camellia Inn are set up to make you feel like you are away but being as comfortable as if you were still in your own bedroom. Each of the nine, thoughtfully appointed guest rooms at the Inn features a private bath and all include a shower. Some rooms have whirlpool tubs for two. We also provide you with a complimentary wireless service, so you can get your work done or your family can save their minutes and stay up to date on all their social media needs. Head over to the following link to read more about our beautiful rooms at the Camellia Inn. https://camelliainn.com/lodging/

Camellia Spa Treatments

Another topic of discussion that Aaron and I will have is about our Spa. I’ll let him know that the Camellia Inn has exceptional licensed massage therapists that are highly trained in many different modalities of treatments. The 4th of July is right around the corner so there will be plenty of red white and blue events and firework shows and overall celebrations to celebrate. Since Aaron will be here for the next few weeks, we’ll point him in the direction to Windsor, where on the 3rd of July, they have their firework show celebration. On the 4th, over in Santa Rosa, their Red White and Boom music festival will be happening. And obviously, our Camellia Inn is close to a plethora of 4th of July food, music and fireworks. All in all, there is so much going on that Aaron will enjoy.

Healdsburg Events – There’s So Much To Do Here

“The early influences, in many ways, were in Baltimore. I was passing open windows where there might be a radio playing something funky. In the summertime, sometimes there’d be a man sitting on a step, playing an acoustic guitar, playing some kind of folk blues. The seed had been planted.” – Jerry Leiber

This quote by the late musician and songwriter Jerry Leiber doesn’t say that much about the topic of our blog post, but it caught our eye for a few reasons. The visual of a musician sitting on the stoop playing a guitar during the summer is the natural vibe that our town of Healdsburg can offer anyone. We live by the idea that you are a unique individual and can come here, be yourself and enjoy all of our unique businesses, people and sights. With that idea in mind, Healdsburg has several upcoming summer events for you to enjoy. Let’s take a look.

Trivia Night at Bear Republic Brewing Co.

Healdsburg Events

The first Healdsburg event we want to bring to your attention is happening on Wednesday June 12th. Do you like trivia? Well, if you do, and you’re here on the 12th or any Wednesday for that matter head over to the Bear Republic Brewing Company. You’ll be able to enjoy some delicious beers, such as their tasty Racer 5. Enjoy some great snacks, and have fun trying to win the trivia night. We promise you won’t be disappointed. Click their website for more details or just to look at their wonderful beer menu. https://bearrepublic.com/healdsburg-brewpub-trivia-night-begins-april-25th/

Healdsburg Art, Food and Wine 2019 (AFW)

Another Healdsburg event we suggest you find a way to be a part of is on June 13th through June 15th. The Healdsburg community will play host to 3 days of various events that highlight the combination of visual arts, vintner arts and culinary arts. If you can’t be present for all three days then we suggest you be a part of Saturday Night, June 15th. The evening begins with the Palette to Palate Art Walk of Healdsburg’s Fine Art Galleries and concludes with the Grand Finale Cocktail Party at Aerena Gallery located on the Healdsburg Square. Aerena Gallery will feature the Bespoke Wine Collection “Art of the Label”. Their library wines will be paired with savory hors d’oeuvres and a live music performance by Freddy Clarke. The event will start at 4 pm to 8:30 pm. For more information you can head over to the following website. We hope you can make it. www.healdsburgartfoodwine.com

45th Fitch Mountain Footrace

One Healdsburg event we always recommend is the Fitch Mountain Footrace. This is the 45th year of the race and it will be taking place on Sunday June 16th from 8 am until 10 am. This annual event will be Benefiting the Healdsburg Kiwanis Memorial Scholarship Fund. The purpose of this annual family event is to raise scholarship money to fund college scholarships for the local high school seniors. Each year over $10,000 in scholarships is awarded to local kids. This event not only benefits the students of our community, but it’s also a great time for people to gather for some fun morning activities with the family. The run takes place in the Heart of Sonoma County’s Wine Country; Healdsburg. Both the 10K and 3K courses begin and end at the Historic Healdsburg Downtown Plaza. Come and enjoy a day in the wine country with great restaurants, world class wineries, and the beautiful Russian River. The 10K course travels through quaint neighborhoods and then out around the challenging Fitch Mountain along the Russian River, finally ending back downtown. The 3K course is an in-town loop and is fairly flat; perfect for run/walkers, and families with young kids and/or dogs. You can click the following link to find out all information on how to be a part of this exceptional Healdsburg event.

So many Healdsburg events, and so much time!

We know the saying doesn’t go like that, but the summer has just begun, and there is a ton of time to enjoy a ton of Healdsburg events. We didn’t even cover the Father’s Day Healdsburg events happening this Sunday because our town has so many throughout the week. If we have time, look out for a follow up blog post that will be detailing all the Sunday Father’s Day Healdsburg Events. Right now though, we suggest you give us a call in order to book a stay for we are booking up quick these summer months. Or just call or contact us online and ask any questions that you might have. Revitalize Your Bodily Cells with an Aromatherapy Massage

“I believe that for every illness or ailment known to man, that God has a plant out here that will heal it. We just need to keep discovering the properties for natural healing.” — Vannoy Gentles Fite

We don’t know if you believe in God like the author of this quote, but we believe that there are treasures in nature that can heal some of our ailments. The main truth we took from this quote is, we shouldn’t close ourselves off to the possibility that there are so many undiscovered and discovered remedies for natural healing. Having an Aromatherapy massage is one of those discovered properties that promotes natural healing. We would love for you to continue reading this blog post so we can help you understand what Aromatherapy is, how an Aromatherapy Massage might help you recover, relax or rejuvenate your mind, body and soul.

What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy Massage

Before we dive into what an Aromatherapy Massage entails and the benefits, let’s talk about what Aromatherapy is and where it derived from. The origin of Aromatherapy, according to the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy is this, “It was the French perfumer and chemist, Rene- Maurice Gattefosse, who coined the term “aromatherapie” in 1937 with his publication of a book by that name. His book “Gattefosse’s Aromatherapy” contains early clinical findings for utilizing essential oils for a range of physiological ailments. It seems vital to understand what Gattefosse’s intention for coining the word was, as he clearly meant to distinguish the medicinal application of essential oils from their perfumery applications.” What you should take from this NAHA excerpt is that Aromatherapy is achieving Holistic healing with essential oils through therapeutic medicinal use.
