Along Healdsburg, and Greater Sonoma County, Brewery Trails

In 2017, nearby Santa Rosa was named the Microbrew Capital of the U.S. Before the farms of Healdsburg were covered in vineyards, they were known for their hops. From the 1850s to the 1950s, hops were one of the areas top cash crops. It was hops, not wine, that first established Sonoma County as an agricultural powerhouse. Back in the day hops were dried in huge hop kilns and then baled and shipped all over but especially to the East Coast. The first hops were planted here in 1858 with rootstock from Germany. Migrant families came by wagon every year to pick the hops. While it was work, it was also for many a mini-vacation as they enjoyed camping, swimming and relaxing along the Russian River after a day in the hop fields.

Traditionally, and currently, the one thing that has remained the same in Sonoma County Wine Country – it takes a lot of beer to make great wine. It’s beer that is the beverage of choice at harvest time no matter what the crop. So, it was really foreordained that Sonoma County would become a beer powerhouse location. Although wine is why many people come to Healdsburg and Sonoma County, local beer is becoming a more-and-more popular reason for people visit. Every February, beer aficionados from all over the world make an annual pilgrimage here, to stand in line, sometimes for as long as 17-hours and occasionally in the pouring rain, to be first to buy a glass of the Russian River Brewery’s Pliny the Younger. A beer that is consistently voted among the top six in the world on beer ranking websites.

Sonoma County is now one of the world’s beer capitals. The artisan beer industry started here in 1976 with New Albion Brewing Co., regarded by many as the first craft brewery of the present era. The county is home to legendary brewers including Moonlight Brewing Co. One of the nation’s largest craft brewers is Lagunitas Brewing Co. in Petaluma and a regional powerhouse is the Bear Republic Brewing Co. in Healdsburg.

There are more than 30 breweries in the region. Below are the breweries, beer gardens taprooms, beer dedicated retail stores and notable others on Camellia Inn’s Beer & Brewery Tour.

Are you ready for a delicious Healdsburg Breakfast?

I think we all can agree that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. One of our staff members daughter, Abigail, is 10 years old and she told us the other day that our “Healdsburg Breafkist (yes, she says breafkist instead of Breakfast. They don’t have the heart to correct it) is so delicious.” That’s a 5 star rating in our books. We have to say that we agree with her on this! Our Healdsburg breakfast offers you Breakfast ingredients that are locally-sourced, organic and sustainable, in-season and “right off the farm” fresh. If you’ve never had an egg that wasn’t shipped to a grocery store from far away, eating breakfast at the Camellia Inn will be a revelation. Our eggs come from local hens that are well treated, and they’re delivered fresh daily. There is so much more that we offer during breakfast time, so we’d love for you to check out our website to find out for yourself.

“The thing I love most about going on vacation is that I get to leave behind any kind of schedule. My entire life is scheduled from morning to night, and when I’m on vacation, there is no schedule.” – Kelly Clarkson

A Spa in Healdsburg Ca Treatment is Just a Great Feeling

Whenever we think about our spa in Healdsburg Ca, James Taylor’s song “Up on the Roof” springs to mind:

“When this old world starts a getting me down,

and people are just too much for me to face.

I’ll climb way up to the top of the stairs and all my cares just drift right into space.

On the roof, it’s peaceful as can be and there the world below don’t bother me, no, no.”

Spa in Healdsburg Ca

The idea of getting away to the ‘top of the roof’, or just getting away from the stress of life and letting your struggles fade away is exactly what we want for you at the Camellia Inn Bed and Breakfast. Our Spa in Healdsburg Ca can provide you with whatever escape you are looking for. Do you want a couple’s treatment? Do you want a girl’s spa in Healdsburg Ca day? These are just two questions to ask yourself when you are thinking about booking a spa day with us. We hope to entice you even further with this list of some of our spa in Healdsburg Ca treatments.

It’s all about you…

Okay, our spa in Healdsburg Ca is all about you and giving you the very best experience possible. We aren’t going to bring you to the roof, like James Taylor sings about. Rather, we’ll bring that same feeling when you come to our sun porch that’s rich with period tile floors and a tall ceiling. It’s the perfect location to let all your “cares drift right into space.” Another cool option we offer is to have an individual massage in your room. Just ask, and we’ll make it happen. Okay, enough already, let’s give you a nice list of our spa in Healdsburg Ca options.

Reiki

One of our most popular spa in Healdsburg Ca options is to have a Reiki massage. Reiki is based on the idea that a life force energy flows through us, and that fluctuations in this energy affect our physical health, according to the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT). Our licensed therapists will give you a very light hands-on touch or will hold his or her hands close to your body, while moving the hands systematically through different positions, with the intention of discharging negative energy and replacing it with positive energy. This is a 60-minute treatment.

Swedish

The next spa in Healdsburg Ca treatment we offer at the Camellia Inn is a relaxing Swedish massage. This is offered to individuals or couples for a sixty-minute duration or for ninety minutes. The Swedish massage is the most well know massage around, and it’s the best place to start if you haven’t had a massage before. During this therapy session, our massage therapists will work with the soft tissues and muscles in the body to help restore balance and health. At the end of the massage, all the muscles in your body will be relaxed and any pain and tension that may exist, will be released.

Deep Tissue Massage

Another one of our spa in Healdsburg Ca massage treatments is a Deep Tissue Massage. This is also a 60 or 90-minute treatment and is also offered to individuals or couples. This massage uses some of the same movements as a Swedish massage but is also very different and highly beneficial. It’s used to break up scar tissue and physically break down muscle “knots” or adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) that can disrupt circulation and cause pain, limited range of motion, and inflammation.

Master’s Massage

One of our unique spa in Healdsburg Ca treatments is a Master’s Massage. One of our Senior therapists, whom is expertly trained in many treatment modalities will discuss with you a customized treatment. This is a 60 to 90-minute therapy for couples or individuals. Our bodies are all unique and need to be treated that way. This treatment will allow us to cater to your exact needs. Tell us what you want, and we’ll make it happen.

Mothers to Be

Come on now, a Mother to Be Massage? What? Yes, at our Camellia Inn, we offer a 60-minute treatment.  A therapist specially trained in pre-natal massage will address the unique needs of expectant mothers. Our spa in Healdsburg Ca knows how hard our mothers-to-be are working, so we want to take care of them. Book this treatment ASAP, it’s well deserved

Now it’s time…

I think we all can agree that the spa in Healdsburg treatments we offer at the Camellia Inn Bed and Breakfast are enticing. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing Swedish, blissful Reiki, penetrating deep-tissue, exclusive master’s, or a respectful Mother-to-be massage, rest assure you are in the very best of hands. Our therapists are among the finest professionals in the wine country. We hope we’ve done enough to convince you to book a spa in Healdsburg Ca day or weekend with us at the Camellia Inn. For anything else, and pricing, or to contact us, please head over to our website. We look forward to at least, starting the conversation!

It’s ‘May’ to Remember when you stay at the Camellia Inn Healdsburg B&B

“We cannot stop the winter or the summer from coming. We cannot stop the spring or the fall or make them other than they are. They are gifts from the universe that we cannot refuse. But we can choose what we will contribute to life when each arrives.” – Gary Zukav

Camellia Inn Healdsburg B&B

This quote can’t be any more accurate. No matter the season or time, when it comes to planning a vacation or getaway, the contribution you put into it should be met with the same contribution from the destination you choose. The staff we have at our Camellia Inn Healdsburg b&b is the best in the business in our biased opinion. Spring Vineyard Hike

On May 10th and May 11th, you can head on over to Jordan Vineyard & Winery for a hiking excursion, that will feature mountain views, wildlife, vineyards, lakes, wine tasting and more. This $95 event is a hike that will start at Vista Point, which is the highest hilltop on the 1,200-acre ranch. Our Healdsburg B&B staff assures that this isn’t an overwhelming hike, but you should be in the right frame of mind to cover a 3-mile stretch of hills and valleys. You’ll have an opportunity to taste the Jordan Estates Olive Oil in a nice spot under the trees, and then finish the hike off back at the Winery Chateau on their terrace for a fun charcuterie picnic and wine tasting of Jordan Chardonnay and Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a four-player scramble with contests and prizes followed by a dinner reception with live auction and Dutch raffle. Proceeds benefit the Shannon Boaz Memorial Scholarship for Active Girls providing scholarships for girls in our local community to participate in sports, arts, science and various extra-curricular activities. Head to their website for more information by clicking here http://www.soroptimisthealdsburg.com/. Now this tournament may be sold out this year but put it on your calendars for next year. Is a Healdsburg Ca Lodging the Right Fit?

Healdsburg Ca Lodging

Here are a few questions we think are important for you to consider before you decide to stay at our Camellia Inn B&B or any other Healdsburg Ca lodging b&b:

  1. Do you prefer smaller, more intimate Healdsburg Ca lodging accommodations than a large hotel?
  2. Do you appreciate rooms that are individually decorated, especially with antiques or period furniture?
  3. Do you enjoy getting to know other travelers over a lavish communal breakfast?
  4. Do you like staying in residential neighborhoods or quiet rural settings?
  5. Do you enjoy the experience of a “home away from home” — including personal touches like the innkeepers’ cat curled up in the corner of the living room?
  6. Do you like having the personal attention and expertise of an innkeeper at your disposal?
  7. Do you appreciate transparent pricing (many B&B’s list nightly rates on their Web sites)?
