  Fourth-generation winegrower Jeff Kunde invites dogs to accompany their owners on a tasting, and to join him on a hike through his family’s historic vineyards. The four-hour hike, which takes hikers and their dogs through oak woodlands, native grasslands and chaparral, features an overview of Kunde’s sustainable winegrowing practices. The hike includes a wine tasting and a catered lunch. Hikes are $75 and human wine tastings are $15.

Badger Park is a very well kept fenced off-leash dog park for small dogs under 17’’ tall. Features include benches, a picnic table, water stations, information kiosk, and shaded areas.The Villa Dog Park is one of the nicest dog parks in Sonoma County, this 1.5 acre enclosed dog park at the Villa Chanticleer features plenty of parking as well as water and shade. There are poop bags available, some toys and a plastic baby pool for water-loving dogs.

Sunset Supper at Vista Point

On Saturday June 30^th, Jordan Vineyard and Winery will host a festive dinner party at Vista Point, the highest hilltop on Jordan Estate. The festivities will start with a reception at the Winery Chateau and then you will be chauffeured to downtown Healdsburg to experience a trip through the Jordan 1,200-acre Estate to reach its summit at Vista Point. You’ll then be seated to dine on a four-course dinner by their Chef. The food will be paired with many vintages of Jordan wines. The experience will end with a dessert reception while the sun sets behind the mountains while you enjoy a glass of the Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon. Tacos, Tequila & Trivia!

Are you versed in everything Dog related? If so, you should head to Santa Rosa and the Charles Shultz museum which is only a 15-minute drive from the Camellia Inn in downtown Healdsburg. Healdsburg Duck Dash & Kids’ Parade

The Downtown Healdsburg Plaza will be filled with so much for you and your family to experience on the 4^th of July. One fun event for you and your children to take part in is the Healdsburg Duck Dash & Kids’ Parade. You can join hundreds of other families and kids of all ages for the annual 4th of July Kids Parade and Duck Dash in the downtown Healdsburg Plaza on Wednesday, July 4th from 10:30am to 1:30 pm. In its seventh year, the event continues to be a major attraction for Healdsburg community to celebrate the founding of our nation. The event is presented by the Rotary Club of Healdsburg Sunrise and the City of Healdsburg. There will be live music and activities for everyone. These activities will include; games, races, face painting, and special guest appearances from Uncle Sam, the Russian River Ramblers and the Healdsburg Community Band. In 2017, nearby Santa Rosa was named the Microbrew Capital of the U.S. Before the farms of Healdsburg were covered in vineyards, they were known for their hops. From the 1850s to the 1950s, hops were one of the areas top cash crops. It was hops, not wine, that first established Sonoma County as an agricultural powerhouse. Back in the day hops were dried in huge hop kilns and then baled and shipped all over but especially to the East Coast. The first hops were planted here in 1858 with rootstock from Germany. Migrant families came by wagon every year to pick the hops. While it was work, it was also for many a mini-vacation as they enjoyed camping, swimming and relaxing along the Russian River after a day in the hop fields.

Traditionally, and currently, the one thing that has remained the same in Sonoma County Wine Country – it takes a lot of beer to make great wine. It’s beer that is the beverage of choice at harvest time no matter what the crop. So, it was really foreordained that Sonoma County would become a beer powerhouse location. Although wine is why many people come to Healdsburg and Sonoma County, local beer is becoming a more-and-more popular reason for people visit. Every February, beer aficionados from all over the world make an annual pilgrimage here, to stand in line, sometimes for as long as 17-hours and occasionally in the pouring rain, to be first to buy a glass of the Russian River Brewery’s Pliny the Younger. A beer that is consistently voted among the top six in the world on beer ranking websites.

Sonoma County is now one of the world’s beer capitals. The artisan beer industry started here in 1976 with New Albion Brewing Co., regarded by many as the first craft brewery of the present era. The county is home to legendary brewers including Moonlight Brewing Co. One of the nation’s largest craft brewers is Lagunitas Brewing Co. in Petaluma and a regional powerhouse is the Bear Republic Brewing Co. in Healdsburg.

The Parish Café is one of our favorite Healdsburg Breakfast spots for a number of reasons. The first reason is a big one! They serve hand-made beignets that are rolled out fresh when ordered and quickly deep-fried and smothered in powdered sugar.  The chef has a handful of Louisiana styled breakfast meals that include Eggs Nouvelle Orleans. This includes a generous amount of poached eggs, mounds of sweet blue crab meat, silky house-made hollandaise and a scattering of shallots on crisp buttered French bread. This is a spot that’ll offer you an extensive list of traditional breakfast meals. From the basic breakfast, to the Tofu Omelette, to the Buckwheat waffle and the buttermilk pancakes. Russian River Rose Open Gardens

Our Camellia Healdsburg Inn is flooded with several wonderful activities and events that you or your family may want to experience during the second half of May and early June. On Saturday May 19^th and Sunday May 20^th, you can visit the Russian River Rose Garden’s Nursery. Their nursery is filled with wonderful roses, irises and perennials for the birds, bees and butterflies! If you choose to experience this nursery you will see California’s only PERFUME ROSE fields. You might be able to catch a distillation of rose petals into rose water, rose oil and sample some rose water sorbet! Enjoy the many beautiful garden features, and Smile! Breakfast at Breathless

Another activity that may suit you when you stay at our Healdsburg Inn, is to attend Breakfast at Breathless Wines. On Sunday May 27^th, you can take the 5-minute trip from our Camellia Healdsburg Inn and join Breathless for their popular ‘Breakfast at Breathless series!’ Held on the last Sunday of each month from April through October.  You’ll enjoy an authentic sweet or savory French Crepe from Brittany Crepes and a delicious glass of bubbles at their tasting room and garden. Our Healdsburg Inn is always lucky to be surrounded by terrific music. On Sunday May 27^th, you can go and enjoy a beautiful afternoon at the La Crema Estate at Saralee’s Vineyard with the international rock and roll party machine known as the Wonder Bread 5. From current hits to classics from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and beyond, Wonder Bread 5 delivers rock and dance hits that will keep you dancing all afternoon. Museum Mondays for Little Ones

If you are staying with us at our Camellia Healdsburg Inn on Monday May 28^th and would like to treat your children who range from the ages of 1-5, then heading to the Charles Shultz Museum is a great option for you and your kids. On the last Monday of the month the museum will offer stories, arts and crafts activities, and movement games. The doors open at 10am and last until lunch time. 20th Annual Healdsburg Jazz Festival

Like we said earlier, our Healdsburg Inn is always surrounded by exceptional music events, so the Healdsburg Jazz Festival is another stop we think anyone will enjoy. Starting on June 1^st and lasting until June 10^th, you and your family can help in Celebrating 20 years of bringing jazz performance, education & culture to the community.

Local guitarist Julian Lage and the genre-spanning Bill Frisell will open the 2018 Healdsburg Jazz Festival at the SHED in Healdsburg on Friday, June 1, to kick off 10 days of great jazz in during the 20th Anniversary Festival. Other artists over the first weekend alone include the Fred Hersch Trio and Trio La Paz, with guests Anat Cohen and Claudia Villela, saxophonist and flutist Charles Lloyd performing with Zakir Hussain, Gerald Clayton, Eric Harland and others.

Spring Vineyard Hike

On May 10^th and May 11^th, you can head on over to Jordan Vineyard & Winery for a hiking excursion, that will feature mountain views, wildlife, vineyards, lakes, wine tasting and more. This $95 event is a hike that will start at Vista Point, which is the highest hilltop on the 1,200-acre ranch. Our Healdsburg B&B staff assures that this isn’t an overwhelming hike, but you should be in the right frame of mind to cover a 3-mile stretch of hills and valleys. You’ll have an opportunity to taste the Jordan Estates Olive Oil in a nice spot under the trees, and then finish the hike off back at the Winery Chateau on their terrace for a fun charcuterie picnic and wine tasting of Jordan Chardonnay and Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon. Girlfriends on the Green

We know this event is just around the corner, and it might be sold out, but our Healdsburg b&b really believes this is an important one to be a part of. If not this year, then next year for sure. Soroptimist Int’l of Healdsburg proudly presents their 9th annual women’s golf tournament, Girlfriends on the Green, to be held on May 11, 2018 at Healdsburg Golf Club at Tayman Park. It is a four-player scramble with contests and prizes followed by a dinner reception with live auction and Dutch raffle. Proceeds benefit the Shannon Boaz Memorial Scholarship for Active Girls providing scholarships for girls in our local community to participate in sports, arts, science and various extra-curricular activities. This is a fun get together that our staff at our Healdsburg b&b think is a great choice for our guests. Join the newest event along the Wine Road ~ Esprit du Rhône! This is a weekend celebrating the spirit of the Rhône. For $40 a person, on Friday May 18, from 6pm until 8pm you can join 20 winemakers for a casual walk-around tasting at Longboard Vineyards. Luther Burbank Rose Parade

If you’re lucky enough to be staying with us at our Camellia Inn Healdsburg b&b at the time of this event, then consider yourself lucky. The 124th Annual Luther Burbank Rose Parade & Festival celebrates with “Together We Rose” as the theme on Saturday, May 19 in Downtown Santa Rosa. They will be celebrating the strength of community and reflecting back on the last 150 years of existence. We at our Healdsburg B&B think this year will be so emotional and unifying. Award-winning floats, marching groups and school bands and non-profits will fill the streets with excitement and the Courthouse Square will be the site of a fun filled day of live music, food booths and activities for the whole family.
