Some of the Most Exciting Spa Specials and Packages

“It’s very important to take care of yourself. Everyone’s lives are so busy. Take at least an hour a day to recharge and do whatever makes you better. For grown-ups, whether it’s a spa, sitting in a park with a book, or coffee, take time for yourself. –Ana Ivanovic

Ana Is a Serbian Athlete that must take care of her mind, body and soul in order to be the very best at what she does. When she speaks of taking care of yourself, for even just an hour, it’s a bit of advice that we should all consider. Like Ana said, one way you can take care of yourself is to book a Spa treatment. Ana mentioned coffee, a book, or sitting in the park as all options to recharge your batteries. Our Camellia Inn located in downtown Healdsburg is surrounded by wonderful coffee shops, parks, great places to eat and so much more. Our Spa, though, is a huge attraction, and the reason to keep reading this blog post.

“I think if I took therapy, the doctor would quit. He’d just pick up the couch and walk out of the room.” –Don Rickles

The Gardens at the Camellia Inn

Our Gardens at the Camellia Inn have been flourishing since the Lewand family took over in 1981. They were what one of the biggest proponents to why the Lewands decided to call it the Camellia Inn. More than 80 plants bloom throughout the winter on the inn’s landscaped grounds. We highly recommend that you take a self-guided tour of our property. Here you’ll be able to experience our history through beauty. You can begin this tour at the Fish Pond patio, which faces the tree-lined North Street. The Evergreen Dogwood is on your left which has the distinguishable yellow/green flowers in summer, which develop pink overtones as they mature. With its strawberry-like pods, the tree was planted to screen the side of the house. It is a very rare variety. Lucy Lewand’s sister Chris grew it from seed.

You’ll then notice an old Tulip Tree that has bloomed beautifully bringing calm joy to everyone that experiences it. You can cross over the brick patio to the right, where there are the oldest Camellias at the Camellia Inn that were planted by the doctor and his wife. The Lewands have added more than 40 additional varieties of camellias since starting the Inn. The Japanese Maple was added in 1988 as shade for the camellias. This is just a short portrait of the beautiful nature that you can find solace in when you visit us at the Camellia Inn. Please click the following link to read in more detail, everything our garden at the Camellia Inn provides. https://camelliainn.com/self-guided-garden-tour/

“A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events and outcomes. It is a catalyst and it sparks extraordinary results.” — Wade Boggs

If you know anything about the game of baseball and their ambassadors, then you understand how true this quote from the Hall of fame third baseman is. Wade Boggs played every game during his long career with this belief and understood that every day he played was a gift. He traveled the world during his career and appreciated every moment and every destination. With this appreciation in mind, we want to provide you with a list of upcoming Healdsburg events that you can experience in order to achieve extraordinary memories.

The Human Element” Screening

There are plenty of Healdsburg Events for you to experience, but this screening should be on your list during your trips to Healdsburg. This is a community screening partnership between the Alexander Valley Film Society and Healdsburg Center for the Arts as part of their “Artists on Climate Change” exhibit. During his four-decade career as a photographer and explorer, James Balog has focused his lens on the complex relationship between humans and nature. Human activity has now surpassed all other forces shaping our world. Balog’s work has challenged us to contemplate our place in, and responsibility to, the natural world. Balog investigates how altering the elements is in turn affecting everyday Americans right now. The Human Element features subjects who are often overlooked victims of climate change. Balog visits Tangier Island, a fishing community facing the imminent reality of sea level rise threatening their future. Yadira Sanchez and her three children in Denver, Colorado, all of whom suffer from asthma, and attend a special school for children struggling with air. Balog embeds with a Cal Fire strike team on the frontlines of the most expensive wildfire in California history. And he ventures deep into Kentucky coal country, meeting unemployed miners finding hope from a new source. Balog argues that humans are part of the whole system of nature and not apart from it. Knowing this, he finds great hope that the fifth element, the human element, can bring the whole system back into balance. If you want to be a part of this educational and important screening, then head over to the Raven’s website to find out how to buy tickets. https://ci.ovationtix.com/34924/production/1003616?performanceId=10360769

Healdsburg Breakfast 2019

“What nicer thing can you do for somebody than make them breakfast?” – Anthony Bourdain

The late Anthony Bourdain raises a unique question, with the answer being, not much. When someone prepares you a breakfast, it usually brings a smile to your face because you realize that someone else has taken the time to treat you. Our Healdsburg staff wants to bring smiles to your stomachs with our Healdsburg breakfast. The Camellia Inn Bed and Breakfast is just one option for you when it comes to breakfast. The town of Healdsburg has an abundance of great Healdsburg Breakfast spots to choose from. You can look at what we at the Camellia Inn has to offer by clicking the following link https://camelliainn.com/about-us/breakfast/

We’d also like to provide you with a look at other sensational Healdsburg Breakfast options or places around Healdsburg that you can partake in while staying with us at the Camellia Inn Bed and Breakfast.

Carlos’ Country Kitchen

Healdsburg Breakfast

A great place to enjoy a meal isn’t a Healdsburg Breakfast spot but it’s not far and it’s a real treat. Carlos’ Country Kitchen is located in Santa Rosa. If you are into big portions and a filling menu then this breakfast choice is ideal. Carlos’ Country Kitchen isn’t a place where you go for ambiance, but it is a place to go to stuff your bellies. They serve amazing food in big portions. The Biscuits and gravy are fantastic, while the pancakes, scrambled eggs and Huevos rancheros are second to none. You can’t go wrong here. You will not leave hungry or disappointed. Head over to their website to see their full menu. http://carlos-country-kitchen.cafes-usa.com/

Dierk’s Parkside Café

Another non-Healdsburg Breakfast joint that we highly recommend is Dierk’s Parkside Café also located in Santa Rosa. There’s literally no room for pretension at this intimate neighborhood restaurant where regulars sip coffee at the bar and chat up waitresses buzzing from table to table.  Over the years, Mark Dierkhising has created a morning institution that’s popular with bed-headed kids, bike groups and in-the-know Wine Country visitors. All these individuals will suggest the Chicken Fried Steak, Huevos Rancheros and the Country Benedict whose magical powers include a warm baguette, scrambled eggs, bacon, mushrooms, oven-dried tomatoes, spinach, hash browns and Hollandaise sauce. There’s a reason why Dierk’s is one of the best breakfast spots in all of Sonoma County. We suggest heading over to their website to see the entire menu. http://www.dierksparkside.com/

The Parish Cafe

The Parish Cafe is on the top of our list for Healdsburg Breakfast spots for you to enjoy.: Do you love beignets?  If that’s all you have for breakfast, no one will fault you, since the feather-light French pastries are rolled out by hand before being quick-fried and smothered in powdered sugar. Chef and owner Rob Lippincott, pays tribute to his Louisiana heritage with New Orleans masterpieces such as Eggs Nouvelle Orleans or eggs benedict, piling poached eggs, mounds of sweet blue crab meat, silky house-made hollandaise and a scattering of shallots on crisp buttered French bread. All around, polished wood-plank tables are laden with plates of baguette po’ boys stuffed with eggs over medium, savory Black Forest ham, provolone, spinach and tomato; crawfish-andouille omelet; or shrimp and grits studded with bacon. Still craving sweet? The Bananas Foster Pain Perdu will set you up, with fluffy French toast gilded with fresh bananas, pecans and maple bourbon sauce. B and B in Healdsburg

If you are a lover of a good show, then our B and B in Healdsburg has an option for you to enjoy. “Room Service” is a way to let go of the rigors of everyday life. You can get swept away to the year of 1937, where a nimble-witted producer, living on credit with several actors in a Broadway hotel, stumbles onto a great script with an angel that has $15,000 to invest! But when the angel wants to back out, the producer eludes the reluctant angel, outwits creditors, and manages to produce his play in spite of unexpected obstacles in this classic screwball comedy. It’s a great play that will have an Opening Night filled with Bubbly. On Sunday, there will be a post show Discussion. Join them for opening night of any production and stay afterward for a celebratory toast to the cast and crew! Immediately following all Sunday matinees, members of the cast and crew will return to the stage to answer your questions. This event will last until February 10th. But you should book it now because tickets will sell out rapidly. Head over to this website to learn more and to buy tickets. https://www.raventheater.org/

Weekend Getaway in the Russian River Area: What not to Miss

Swimming, fine dining, shopping, wine tasting, canoeing, hot air ballooning, kayaking – name it, and the Russian River Valley has it all!  As it winds through Northern California, the Russian River creates plenty of activities that you can enjoy as a family or with your partner.

Here are some ideas you should consider if you are looking to have a weekend getaway along the great Russian River.

Canoeing Trips

Russian River

Love canoeing? The Russian River offers lots of canoeing opportunities. Just pick your favorite spot, rent a canoe and spend some time floating down the Russian River, stopping to enjoy beaches along your way. Although the waters are not so turbulent expect do to some paddling to avoid colliding into the vegetation that’s along the river banks.

Wine Tasting

Northern California is well known for its great wineries. Start at Napa and enjoy tasting a wide variety of wines, and if you can afford a bottle, carry one back home and there’s more! The Westside road that stretches from Healdsburg to Guerneville is packed with amazing spots to sip some vino. Arista  has a scenic vine-garden, which is connected to a tasting room.

Visit the Historic Central Plaza in Healdsburg

Healdsburg historic Central Plaza was once named among the most beautiful town squares in America by the Travel + Leisure Magazine. The town offers quite a delightful mix of luxurious and rural lifestyles, gourmet restaurants and many other charms. You would need more than a day to explore tasting rooms, bars, restaurants and galleries if you are a fan of art. In addition do not to forget the Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach along the very Russian river.

Relax at Johnson’s Beach

As the locals will tell you, Johnson’s beach is one of the best summer spots along the Russian River. Imagine sunbathing, swimming and floating along a river that’s nestled among redwoods? That’s Johnson beach for you! For over a century, the spot has remained Guerneville seasonal tradition with many snack bars and lounges around.

From fun water activities to luxurious lounging, the Russian River Valley has a lot to offer. If you are looking for a fun place to unwind and relax after a long day of activities, the Camellia Inn is a great place to spend your time. Contact us for more details.
